A Vision Of Levi's Future?

Milo's Bathtime

Milo tried store bought pears (or any pears) for the first time tonight. Did you know that pears are shiver-inducing and disgrosting? Well, after trying, and hating (really hating) them tonight Milo needed a bath.

Baths are much better than pears.
Whatever you do don't share this photo with his prom date.

Two Birds, One Stone

I had an ah-ha moment this afternoon, I had to bring laundry downstairs and at that same time Levi was waking up from his nap. So, laundry time + Levi waking up from nap = the mother of invention.

PS - Nobody else is ever allowed to carry Levi this way. Ever. This means you.

Another Sunday, Another Bi Bim Bop

It seems that Korean restaurant lunches are starting to be a Sunday afternoon tradition for this little family.
And another tradition is Mommy, being the photographer, going un-photographed unless I turn the camera on myself.

And here is Milo, desperate to get the packet of baby biscuits (that's what the waitress who brought them called them) just out of his reach.

Jump, Milo, Jump!

Not to be outdone...

You Only Drool On Those You Love

Family friend, Roger, sent this awesome VTech tummy-time playmat to Gramps. The idea was that when the boys come to visit there will be something for them to play with. Sweet! But, since we are intimidated by the colossal undertaking that flying with 6 month old twins would be we are never ever going to go anywhere (except to Palm Springs for Benny-Anne's wedding). Knowing that, Gramps sent it along to us so the guys can play with it here!

It makes all kinds of cool sounds, has a touch sensitive pad under the playmat and they love it.

Thanks Roger!

Milo: A Photoganza

We know that Levi discovered jumping this week (see previous post). But that does not mean that Milo should go undocumented today! So we have a smattering of photos for you.

Milo standing like a big boy and putting on his best celebrity-inspired "Oh-my-goodness-a-camera. Whatever-will-I-do?" face. He is wearing one of the SWEETEST Alternative Apparel shirts ever made... given to us by cousins Amy, Chris, Bruce, and Dorthy.

After breakfast we all ran out to the U-Pick apple, berry, tomato, and squash, pole-bean-maze farm. Here is one of our little apple flowers growing in the sun. Our other apple flower was being worn by the photographer and thus, was un-photographed. I'm hoping that apple picking becomes a family tradition - like we had growing up outside Chicago (Bells Orchard, anyone?).

Milo was famished after all that apple picking. Fortunately at least as much butternut squash got into his belly as on his forehead.

Guess who discovered the "jump" feature of the jumparoo?

Shots Of The Day

The guys love ot hold hands lately. It is painfully cute.

But, Milo and Levi believe this to be their most flattering angle.

The Guys Meet The Governor

After lunch today at our new favorite authentic strip-mall Korean joint, we stopped by the crowded storefront next to the restaurant. It is the district 32 Democratic headquarters. Now, this is not our district, but since we don't know where our district headquarters are, we adopted theirs. I don't think they mind.

Anyhow, there was a big banner out front for the Democratic (duh) WA state Governor, Christine Gregoire. Being curious types we asked what was happening and the staff told us that the Governor would be coming by in 15 minutes for a last-minute campaign stop and to help rally the canvassing team who had assembled there (The primary election is on Tuesday).

Since I am now obsessed with the blog I thought "This will be a great photo opportunity for the guys!" So we stuck around in the district headquarters and waited for her to come.

When she arrived she came over to shake hands and we got this great photo. Unfortunately the only really photogenic one in this photo is the Governor.

I guess they teach you how to stand up straight, keep your eyes open, and look at the camera in Governor school.

6 Month Checkups

The guys had their 6 month checkups yesterday. At their 3 month checkup they sobbed, screamed and cried for hours after their shots. This time... nada. They cried for 20 seconds after their shots and then we were able to distract them with toys and kisses. They both developed little fevers at night and today but nothing a little baby Tylenol couldn't handle. Little champs.

Anyhow, here are the details:

Levi
Weight: 16.3 lbs (25th percentile)
Length: 25 1/2 inches (25th percentile)
This is great for Levi. You might remember that he started off so low he was below the curve (-3rd percentile!). So he has done amazingly well! Go Levi, Go!

Milo
Weight: 17.2 lbs (50th percentile)
Length: 26 inches (25-50th percentile)
Look at how close they are getting in height! And, even though he is less than 1 pound bigger than his brother he just feels a lot heavier. Strange.

So, what is next? More solid foods! All kinds of solid foods! Mushed bananas, pureed peas, butternut squash, and and durian fruit. Sorry Gramps, no ice cream for another 7 months or so! But starting next week we are supposed to offer them solids twice per day. Then three times per day. They don't really eat the stuff now, mind you. But I think it is a fun game for them to blow banana bubbles and stuff and the doctor wants them to have fun. He cares so much.

And babyproofing! Apparently these little guys will be mobile soon and that scares the bejesus out of us. Anyone want to come over and help us babyproof?

Milo Is Growing So Fast...

We needed to get him a new bed.
You like?

The Missing Piece!

OMG - lookit the amazing presents that Larry, Vicki, Alex and Ryan DeMar sent the guys! They are "first puzzles" of zoo animals, for Milo, and dinosaurs for Levi. And the best part is that their names are in the puzzle too.

We can't wait to watch the guys learn how to play with the puzzles and spell their names! A million thanks to the DeMars!

Really, Levi?

Are you sure you want to sleep on your face?
PS - I woke poor Levi up taking this photo. Anyone want to nominate me for Mother Of The Year?

Nine Out Of Ten Dermatologists Recommend A Carrot Scrub For Dinner

Did you know that (homemade) blended carrots are delicious? Did you also know that they are good for your eyesight? Well, did you also know they are good for your skin? The Lake guys already know that - why else would they smear carrots all over their punims?

We Are 6 Months Old Today!

On their 6 month birthday the boys decided to demonstrate their drastically different personalities (and display their 3 chins between them) for you all. Levi has clearly been taking Robot dancing lessons from their Nanny.
Ps - we stole the idea for this photo from twin BFFs Ben and Megan's blog (see it over there in the links section?).

The Pacifier To End All Pacifiers

Some of you know that Milo has the best pacifier in the history of pacifiers. It was made by Chicco and has only ever been sold in Italy and they don't sell it there anymore, it seems. We've literally looked everywhere for another one but to no avail. Further, we have no idea who gave it to us - the two people who we thought might have claim no knowledge of the pacifier! Mystery! Since it is the only one he will take - the only one he has ever taken - it is a very important part of Milo's life (and ours).

And, for posterity, here is a photo of the pacifier. Behold its glory.

Perfectly Precious PEPS Photo

As some of you know we belong to an amazing twins-only PEPS group. One day back in May we decided to take a photo of all the babies on the couch... only they didn't all fit.

See if you can find our little ones!

We Went To The Woodland Park Zoo!

Today was a big day. With Dave out of town Gramma Carol and I wanted to take the boys to the Woodland Park Zoo. We thought they'd love to see the monkeys, flamingos, bears and stuff. As soon as we got in there was a 'life stages of the butterfly' exhibit. Here is Milo as a Pupa (hehe... you said Poo...)...

And Levi as a butterfly!

After that we had a pit stop in front of the Colobus monkeys. Strolled past a gorilla who did something so gross that even the 5 year old boys covered their mouths and ran away screaming "ick". Rolled on past the flamingos. And then the boys let us, the red koala, and everyone around us, know that they were TIRED and wanted to GO HOME AND GO TO SLEEEEEEEEP.

So we did.

Maybe This Thing You Call "Rice Cereal" Isn't So Gross

We tried Rice cereal again yesterday and the guys began to like it. First Levi braved the stuff - opening his mouth in anticipation of the spoon. He even got pretty excited after he swallowed, if you could call it that.

This is what Milo thought of his first bite.

But after he swallowed it he decided it was better than he thought. And here he is asking for more. This is progress!

PS - Milo loves Daddy

Levi. Milo. Sip. Ship.

Today we met a few twin-friends at lunchtime for coffee at the Sip n Ship in Seattle. Gramma Carol was on hand to have some coffee and take a few photos. Our guys were a little sleepy and slouchy for their photo sessions.

Note the amazing shorts that Levi is sporting! I think that he can wear these as "cabana wear" to Benny-Anne's wedding in Palm Springs!

Poor Milo was pooped and ready to go to sleep during his turn in front of the camera. Snoozing and rubbing his eyes. He wondered where his Vente Mocha with one shot, iced, caramel sauce on the top and bottom, no whip, light on the ice, and 7 pumps of peppermint syrup was.

So, This Is What The Big Deal Was All About?

It was a big day! We got the guys in their BeBe Pods, whipped out every camera in the neighborhood and made the rice cereal.

Well, the guys didn't exactly love their first taste of solid food. Milo had some fun smearing it all over this face.
Levi somehow managed to spit out two times more food than we put in his mouth. Miraculous!

Have a look at some great "Why are you feeding me this stuff?" faces here http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/baby-food-face.htm
We'll try again today... maybe we'll add some fruit to it. What has worked for you all?
